Privacy Policy
Your words stay yours. Last updated 6 October 2026.
The short version: Moonline does not collect any data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you write stays on your iPhone, or in your own private iCloud if you turn sync on.
What Moonline stores, and where
- Your journal entries are stored on your device.
- iCloud sync (optional, Moonline+). If you turn it on, entries are synced through your private iCloud database, which is provided by Apple and tied to your Apple Account. The developer of Moonline cannot read it.
- Shared moon (optional, Moonline+). If you invite someone, or join their moon, Moonline shares only which nights each of you wrote, never what you wrote. Apple's iCloud sharing shows each of you the other's name from their Apple Account. You can leave or end a shared moon at any time, which removes your nights from it. The developer of Moonline cannot read it.
- Your settings (theme, reminder time, lock) are stored on your device.
What Moonline does not do
- No account or sign-up.
- No analytics or usage tracking.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs.
- No selling of data, and nothing is shared with anyone except a person you invite to a shared moon.
Features that use system services
- Purchases. Moonline+ is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; Moonline never sees your payment details.
- Notifications. Reminders and "A year ago today" notifications are scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Face ID / Touch ID. The lock uses your device's own check. Moonline never receives biometric data.
- Journaling Suggestions. If you use "From your day", Apple's picker shows suggestions; Moonline only receives the one you choose, and uses it to start your entry on your device.
- Clock check. To know when a day ends, Moonline may read the current time from Apple's servers. No personal data is sent.
Deleting your data
Settings › Journal › Delete all entries removes every entry from the device, and from your iCloud if sync is on. Deleting the app removes its data from the device.
Children
Moonline does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
